Thus, the dump truck market has seen some great shifts in recent times, meeting current trends and further expanding its market.  Because of their unique qualities, they are widely used in a variety of construction processes. Growing urbanization, increased consumer purchasing, and rising expenditure have all helped the articulated dump truck business.

Recent data from EDA equipment financing highlighted the inclination of consumers toward articulated dump trucks. The data shows the regional and international sales activity and willingness among leading articulated dump truck manufacturers. The report compares year-over-year performance for the 12-month period from September 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024.

Infrastructure Development Fuels Dump Truck Demand

The increase in private and government-led investment in critical infrastructure is expected to drive the continued development of the articulated dump truck industry. The government is investing more in infrastructure projects including healthcare and transportation in an effort to increase economic development.

Construction and other developments in infrastructure require articulated dump trucks to load and unload construction materials and trash. As a result of greater investment from the government in big projects, the demand for dump trucks increased significantly due to their widespread usage in infrastructure building.

New vs. Used Articulated Dump Truck Sales

Although there was a considerable market for both new and used articulated dump trucks, the sales channels were different. According to the EDA statistics, sales of new Articulated dump trucks continued to slightly increase while sales of used, financed ADTs declined. For the second year in a row, used heavy machinery for sale has declined. Almost 1,939 units were financed, an 11.6% decrease from the prior quarter. This signifies that consumers are either switching to new models or that there is a growing shortage of high-quality old equipment.

On the other hand, the financing of new ADTs recorded a 2.7% growth to 2074 units, suggesting that there is consistent demand for new machines. This growth in new truck financing might have been due to overall improvement in the industry. Also, there is a tendency toward modernization and the acquisition of new models with enhanced technology. The more inclined for better fuel economy, and an enhanced capability to conform to some of the green standards preferred by most of the construction and mining industries.
